About Güngen
Founded in 1976 as a family molasses-trading business and established as a dedicated maritime operator in 1990, Güngen Denizcilik ve Ticaret A.Ş. is headquartered in Ankara, Turkey.
It owns and operates five high-specification Suezmax crude oil tankers under the Turkish flag, managing all technical, commercial, crewing and quality functions entirely in-house – and is recognised for its quality leadership and early, proactive adoption of technology.
The Challenge
Running a complex Suezmax fleet entirely in-house demanded far more than standard software:
- A fully in-house operation – technical, commercial, crewing and quality all managed internally, needing one platform to cover everything.
- Requirements beyond standard scope – operational needs that off-the-shelf functionality did not fully address.
- Complex international procurement – five large tankers trading worldwide, with shore approvers often travelling.
- A future-ready fleet – newbuildings requiring the most advanced technology from day one.
The Solution
Over two decades, what began as a technology deployment grew into a genuine product collaboration – Güngen mastering AMOS far beyond standard use, and helping shape the platform itself.
- Full AMOS suite deployed – maintenance, procurement, quality, crew and risk, across fleet and shore.
- Custom applications and integrations – built on top of AMOS to a standard that has earned SpecTec’s recognition.
- Co-development of the platform – providing requirements, testing early releases and shaping the roadmap, including AMOS Web Approval.
- Latest platform and upgrades – recently upgraded, and an early validator of the new AMOS web platform.
Case in point - AMOS Web Approval
Güngen was a key voice in defining Web Approval – letting requisitions and purchase orders be approved from any device, without logging into the full AMOS client. It removed a procurement bottleneck for travelling approvers, and is now a standard feature benefiting the entire SpecTec customer base.
